It is that time of the year where we are thinking again about all the others not so fortunate in our society and how we might be able to help them.
There are many charities available with numerous and different causes and each cause is worth the effort to participate. The question is what you really want and where you see your strengths having the most positive impact. Giving back can be a money-donation made to one of these organizations, the gift of time, or putting your experience to work and educating children and adults alike in what you are good at and what served you well.
There is a certain harmony to the flow of money and it kind of replenishes itself. We tend to look at a flow like looking at a river. However, if you look at it like a self-replenishing process you will realize that both, receiving and giving, are equally important. If this process is interrupted, the energy just cannot flow anymore. So it is in your own best interest to receive and give. Just look at people like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates. That's the way they live and do business...no greed involved and yet their wealth is growing beyond imagination. It looks like the more they give away, the more they are receiving...ten times or more.
Think about that and think about the options you have. Think about what legacy you want to leave behind. Opportunities are abundant and each one of us can certainly make a difference in the lives of others. Think about how you can protect our environment, what you can do by respecting nature and make this earth a better place for all of us. Our children have to live with the mess we already created by damaging so seriously our environment. However, we still have time to do something about it...each one of us.
Think about the lack of education in most countries on this planet. What is it you can do about it? What is it you specifically know and could teach others? And you don't even have to go abroad...just look around here and you'll see a frightening lack of education too. Dare and make a difference and teach!
Giving back is not just donating money for the sake of having a good conscience; it is much more than that. There is a reason that with the so-called web 2.0 virtual communities are appearing all over the Internet. People want to belong, want to actively participate, want to be heard, want to share what they know...want to make a difference! A growing number of people all over the world are realizing the power of the Internet, the power it gives to them and they start using it. If you believe i.e. that you define your image, that you define your brand...think again...it was never like this before, but now with the power of the Internet people are telling you right in your face who and what you are. Take the lead and invite them to talk with you, use the power of "Conversational Marketing™". *)
