Do you have new products, receive awards or even speak at local to national conferences? Do you share this information with the local market place through press releases? If not, then why not?
Small business owners such as real estate agents, new car salesmen, financial advisors, to other service professionals engage in a variety of marketing/selling activities or what some call sales strategies. Yet one proven sales strategy that many overlook is the simple press release.
Press releases are a very affordable way (no cost except the time to write them) sales strategy to keep your name in front of your target market. With information doubling every year, your prospects need to see your name a minimum of 13 times just to remember who you are. If you desire top of mind awareness (TOMA), you need to reach or connect with your target market 33 times each year.
Just think, you send out one press release a week or at least two of them a month, and then you have increased your monthly contacts with your suspects and prospects. Also, when your name appears with frequency, people start associating your products and services first before your competitors who never or infrequently use press releases.
Newspapers are always looking for good content to fill the empty spaces. The business section is ripe for press releases. There are also web sites where you can place press releases. Many of these sites are free while some do charge because the press release is viewed as an advertisement. And in all honesty, a press release is an advertisement about you and your company.
Press releases are one of the most cost effective ways to create a buzz about you and your company. There is an old adage about the squeaky wheel getting oiled first. Start letting your business squeak through press releases and watch the oil or money begin to flow.
