New high-rise Hurricane Resistant building designs and shapes are needed, especially if former Vice President Al Gore, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, who created the Internet is right about the future of Super Storms being caused by Global Warming, due to human CO2. But how can humans engineer and build high-rises that can withstand F-5 Tornadoes, and Category V Hurricanes, Typhoons and Cyclones?
This question was put to the Online Think Tank recently and it was determined that the designs of buildings and downtown urban cities with square and rectangle footprint buildings causes high winds between the buildings in such large weather anomalies which makes things even more dangerous. Instead buildings should be shaped in bent rectangular foot prints, in the direction of the storms rotation.
Storm rotations are known based on the location of the weather patterns in various places in the world. For instance in the Western Hemisphere above the equator they are counter-clockwise and thus the buildings need to have counterclockwise rectangular footprints, similar to the design being planned for the MGM Atlantic City Casino. Many buildings laid out in such a pattern will keep the wind moving without channeling it between the buildings and increasing the strength thru a Venturi Effect.
This strategy will work, as most wind modeling shows, but these buildings will still need to be made out of stronger materials and triple plane glass. Sensors should also be incorporated into the concrete of such buildings to tell of degrading and aging material to prevent collapse, which also helps to insure they survive seismic activity, as well as the weather. Sincerely, Lance.
